Preservation and promotion of public health by increasing the availability and quality of high-tech medical care is one of the priorities of the state policy [1]. In the current situation, great importance is given to the foundation of modern trauma and orthopedic departments focusing on the treatment of various pathologies of motor functions. The research objective is to highlight modern possibilities of the traumatology and orthopedics department of the in-patient department of N.A. Semashko Northern Medical Clinical Center.
Materials and methods: the materials used were official statistics data from the annual reports of the head of the traumatology and orthopedics department of the N.A. Semashko Center. Results and discussion: hundreds of large joint endoprosthetic surgeries are annually performed in the traumatology and orthopedic department of the Semashko Center’s in-patient department. Physicians are proficient in the technique of unicondylar prosthetics, successfully use dual mobility systems for complex revision endoprosthetics, and use special trabecular tantalum structures to replace extensive bone defects.
Conclusion: with respect to the complexity of performed surgical interventions, the department matches federal clinics, and many operations performed by specialists of the department are rare even in metropolitan medical centers because of their complexity and cost.
The presented material is dedicated to the outstanding surgeon, the legend of Arkhangelsk public health care - Yakov Alexandrovich Nasonov. The research objective is to show the contribution of the famous surgeon to the development of the First City Hospital and regional surgery.
Materials and methods: a retrospective historical-analytical study was carried out. Ideographic and problem-chronological methods were used. Information was taken from Internet sources from the websites of E.E.Volosevich First City Hospital, the Ministry of Arkhangelsk Healthcare, Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly of Deputies. Results and discussion: biographical material from the life and activities of the surgeon Y.A.Nasonov demonstrates his significant contribution to the medicine development. His practical methods and innovations in a wide range of surgical care created a solid and effective foundation for the development of a number of new fields of surgery in the First City Hospital.
Conclusion: life of Yakov Alexandrovich Nasonov is a bright example of the wholehearted service to medicine. He gave more than half a century to the work in the First City Hospital, trained a whole galaxy of talented surgeons, made a significant contribution to the development of regional surgery and practical healthcare in the Arkhangelsk region
