PARAGRAPH CONSTRUCTION IN “THE GREAT GATSBY” BY F. S. FITZGERALD AND ITS ARMENIAN TRANSLATION (2023)
Авторы: ЯГУБЯН Марине, ДАЛАЛЯН Манана

Paragraphs have important roles in expressing our ideas and helping readers understand what we are trying to say. The analysis of paragraph patterns based on “Great Gatsby” by F. S․ Fitzgerald and its Armenian translation demonstrated that in creative writing the division of paragraphs is rather structural than individual. The research showed that a paragraph stands on its own or is a part of a log piece. It should also focus on a central theme, idea or subject. Paragraphing is an important convention of both written English and Armenian. The page where there are no paragraph breaks seems indigestible and incomprehensible. Paragraphs help readers keep their place in the story and give the eyes a rest. If a paragraph is coherent, each sentence flows smoothly into the next one without obvious shifts or jumps. A coherent paragraph also highlights the ties between old and new information to make the structure of ideas or arguments clear to the reader.

ENGLISH NEOLOGISMS OF ANCIENT GREEK AND LATIN ORIGIN IN THE FIELD OF PSYCHOLOGY (2023)
Авторы: СТЕПАНЯН Араксия

In our rapidly developing world, people often need to create words to name new concepts. The process of creating a new word is actually very complex and consists of a number of stages that are mostly carried out at the subconscious level. People need to understand the role of a newly encountered phenomenon in the world around them and how that phenomenon will be classified within the framework of the already familiar categories. Another problem is the choice of the outer (phonetic) form of the newly created word, which is mainly based on the categorization process of the new phenomenon encountered by a person. This paper is aimed at studying the role of morphemes of Ancient Greek and Latin origin in the process of coining neologisms in the field of psychology. Psychology is a rapidly developing branch of science, and consequently new words need to be coined frequently. In the paper, we tried to reveal what kind of categorization processes take place when creating new words, and how these processes affect the external phonetic composition of given neologisms, and in particular, why Ancient Greek or Latin morphemes are chosen for coining neologisms in the field of psychology.

THE MOST COMMONLY USED POLITICAL WORDS IN BRITISH AND AMERICAN NEWS REPORTS (CORPUS-DRIVEN ANALYSIS) (2023)
Авторы: Багдасарян Сусанна Джамиловна, МАНУКЯН Астхик

It is generally accepted by many scholars that British and American English vary greatly. This is not just a simple assumption about the phenomenon, but rather a well-grounded opinion. On the basis of extensive analysis conducted on differences between the two variations of English, linguists assume that the two vary mainly in grammar patterns and vocabulary choice. This article addresses the question of differences in vocabulary choice focusing on political vocabulary. It compares the most commonly used political words in British and American news reports and reveals distinct contrasts concerning word choice. A comparative analysis with the help of the corpus-driven approach has been chosen as the best procedure to investigate the material under study and demonstrate the mentioned differences.
