Preservation and promotion of public health by increasing the availability and quality of high-tech medical care is one of the priorities of the state policy [1]. In the current situation, great importance is given to the foundation of modern trauma and orthopedic departments focusing on the treatment of various pathologies of motor functions. The research objective is to highlight modern possibilities of the traumatology and orthopedics department of the in-patient department of N.A. Semashko Northern Medical Clinical Center.

Materials and methods: the materials used were official statistics data from the annual reports of the head of the traumatology and orthopedics department of the N.A. Semashko Center. Results and discussion: hundreds of large joint endoprosthetic surgeries are annually performed in the traumatology and orthopedic department of the Semashko Center’s in-patient department. Physicians are proficient in the technique of unicondylar prosthetics, successfully use dual mobility systems for complex revision endoprosthetics, and use special trabecular tantalum structures to replace extensive bone defects.

Conclusion: with respect to the complexity of performed surgical interventions, the department matches federal clinics, and many operations performed by specialists of the department are rare even in metropolitan medical centers because of their complexity and cost.
